Things To Do

Charity Island Lighthouse Tours & Sunset Dinner Cruise, Located near the middle of the entrance to Saginaw Bay – Lake Huron, MI Gravelly Shoal Located in Saginaw Bay 7 miles east and a little South of Au Gres.

Charity Island is a nirvana for the nature lover. Many species of neo tropical birds as well as bald eagles, hawks and ospreys inhabit the Island at various times of the year. Night sky watching is unspoiled by artificial lights and is perhaps the best you will find in lower Michigan. The waters surrounding Big Charity are known to be some of the best Walleye and Smallmouth Bass fishing in Saginaw Bay. But best of all is the tranquility of watching the sun rise and fall on a largely undisturbed, remote wilderness island where you can still enjoy the amenities of civilized life offered by Charity Lodge.

With nearly 300 acres of forest, an 11 acre inland lake and 3 miles of shoreline, Charity Island is an important stopover for over 200 species of migratory birds. Most of the Island is now managed By the Federal Fish & Wildlife Service as an Island Wildlife Refuge.
